A Special Day in Japan---Summer Festival

In Japan, each prefectures, cities and towns have a lot of summer festivals. There are many food stands, for example okonomiyaki, takoyaki, fried potatoes, yakisoba, various kinds of shaved iced etc...Also, we can play catch gold fish, throw rings etc... The most exciting things for me are watching fire works and wearing a yukata. Yukata is traditional Japanese clothes, like kimono. Although many summer festivals are held, I really like my hometown`s one because the fire works are raised near to audience. It`s so beautiful!!! Almost all fire works are raised a little far from us, moreover, when we watch a beautiful one, we clap our hands so I recommend to go to festival of my hometown!!
However I can`t go there this year, I will enjoy various festivals in Australia!!!

Living in Adelaide

7 weeks has gone after I`ve come to Adelaide.
At first, I couldn`t understand Aussie accent...because we learn American English in Japan so I couldn`t accept British English.....
However, I really like Aussie accent now!!!
My new teacher, Helen taught us how to remember new vocabulary. It`s fit on me, I think. Although I`d lived in homestay before, I live in a share house so I have to catch a bus. However, I can spend time to memorize vocabulary on a bus.
Moreover Helen taught us that to watch movies and memorize sentences are good way to study English.
But I don`t have a DVD player in my house so I have to buy it.

Nikujaga ( beef and potato) and miso soup

Recently I miss Japanese food... So I made Nikujaga and miso soup!!!
I put sugar in nikujaga. Sometimes we cook meat with sugar in Japan.
I heard it`s strange. Sukiyaki is one of famous Japanese foods, I think.
We also use sugar in it.

Potato-Salad

We`ll have a party tomorrow because the term will finish. So we`ll bring dishes. I will bring `Potato-Salad`. Maybe almost all people know what is that. But Japanese one is a little different from Australian one. We use cucumber in it. Also I like to put sausage in it.

Ingredients
potato
onion
carrot
ham
sausage
egg
pepper
Japanese mayonnaise

How to cook
1. wash and cut vegetables ( the size depend on you)
2. cut ham
3. boil potatoes for 10-15min
4. cut and fry sausage
5. boil eggs for 10-15min after that cool down in water
6. mash potatoes
7. mix all vegetables in a bowl
8. mix all seasoning to 7
9. cut eggs and put into 8

I hope you`ll enjoy eating Japanese potato salad!!!
